Folk singer and songwriter Ray Lamontagne has been steadily growing his audience and presence since his 2004 debut album, entitled Trouble. That album actually did quite well, and did even better in the UK than it did in the United States.
He has put out three more albums since then, including 2006's Till the Sun Turns Black, 2008's Gossip in the Grain, and most recently, 2010's God Willin' and the Creek Don't Rise. His two singles from the recent effort are "Beg, Steal or Borrow" and "For the Summer" each of which have reached some acclaim.
The album was nominated for three Grammy Awards, and took home Best Contemporary Folk Album. It was also officially made by Lamontagne and the band the Prairie Dogs, the first of his efforts to be credited to a band and not be completely solo albums.
Ray Lamontagne puts on a unique live show, and it's all about the music. You won't get too much chit-chat or interruptions, or free-styling. He'll be performing the music that he has written, and he'll do it with that signature raspy voice which has helped to make him so popular to begin with.
You'll have a chance to pick up tickets to a Ray Lamontagne show near you this summer, as he'll tour through September, starting in the northeast and then zigzagging all across North America. A number of the upcoming shows are already sold out, so don't pass on your chance to purchase tickets to see this rising star live.
