It doesn't get any bigger than the Rolling Stones, does it? The band is approaching 50 years of being on the rock scene, having gotten together in 1962. That's astonishing, and even more so is that they continue to find new fans, continue to put on amazing shows, and are still led by two of the most famous men in rock music, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

Officially, 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the band's debut, from way back in 1962. Yes, it has been a full 50 years of having the Rolling Stones in action, during which time they have put out over 20 studio albums and dozens of compilations and live releases, and have a sold more than 200 million albums all across the globe.

The list of memorable singles and smash hits from the Rolling Stones could go on for hours. "Time is On My Side", "I Can't Get No Satisfaction", "Paint It, Black", "Let's Spend the Night Together", "Ruby Tuesday", "Jumpin' Jack Flash", "Honkey Tonk Women", "Angie", "Start Me Up" and on down the line from there. It doesn't get better than all of that.

The last new music was from 2005, Bigger Bang, and the new music was great, but the tour was off the charts. Most recently there was a massive box set released in the spring of 2011. That was the Singles 1971-2006 collection, and is a true must have for fans of the band.

Are the Rolling Stones going on tour again in 2011? Fans have been going crazy with anticipation while trying to sort through all of the rumors that have been out there for the new Rolling Stones Tour.

Unfortunately, right now the answer, at least publicly, is that the band is not touring. At least not in 2011. However, the door wasn't shut for any other upcoming shows, and signs are pointing to a potential 2012 tour. Considering that it would be the 50th anniversary of the band being out there, as mentioned above, it would certainly make sense and would be a perfect time to hit the road again, and to go out with a bang before hanging up the guitars and mics for good.

It would be hard to be the A Bigger Bang tour 2005-2007 though, which featured nearly 150 shows in a two year period of time. They visited over 30 countries and it was an absolutely massive, global whirlwind. They sold a total of 4.5 million tickets to the entire tour, which is an amazingly high number to go along with earning $550 million. The tour for Bigger Bang was one of the biggest and highest grossing of all-time.

But whatever they plan on doing in 2012, if anything, fans would absolutely love to check out the Stones in concert again. So keep your eyes open and be on the lookout for more news on the upcoming Rolling Stones tour and tickets for when they're in town near you.
