The New York Knicks were in the headlines nonstop last season, although it wasn't always for the right reasons, and it wasn't always for their play on the court. They were in the headlines because one, they signed free agent Amar'e Stoudemire and brought him to the team to help make a big splash, and two, they eventually, finally, traded for Carmelo Anthony to give the team a big 1-2 punch of star power.

That trade though took up so much of the season, and the Knicks had to part with a lot of talent to bring Anthony in. But they also got Chauncey Billups, and they were able to keep young guard Landry Fields, already becoming a crowd favorite. Those players are the core of the Knicks now, although rumors are still rampant they are going to try their own Big Three, perhaps with somebody like Chris Paul.

The Knicks made it to the playoffs last year with Stoudemire and Melo, but they got swept by the Celtics, which actually hides the fact that they almost won a few of those games. Now head coach Mike D'Antoni will have more time to get the stars on the same page and work everyone into a system that fits them best.
