Sometimes it seems like you never know what you're going to get out of the Chicago Bears. That's the way it was in 2010, as they struggled out of the gate, but then won their division with an 11-5 record before bowing out in the postseason to their hated rivals, the Green Bay Packers.
That game had all kinds of controversy, mostly focused on quarterback Jay Cutler, who always seems to be in the middle of it. Cutler went out with an injury but many people thought that he seemed like he didn't care or he could've gone back in the game but didn't, so a lot of fans were unhappy with him.
But if the Bears are going to succeed in 2011, it's going to be because of Cutler, and because coordinator Mike Martz was able to find a way to get the best out of him. Matt Forte needs to have a big year, and the Bears are hoping that offensive lineman Gabe Carimi, their first pick in the draft, will be able to help both of those guys.
Make no mistake about it though, the heart of the team is still on defense, with head coach Lovie Smith, and Hall of Fame bound linebacker Brian Urlacher. Urlacher and Smith know too though that Cutler and the offense will be the ticket to their success and playoff hopes, and the focus of the media and the fans will be right on Cutler. Will he perform in the spotlight in 2011?
